Dear Paul, firstly what a lovely art site, thank you :) I am a beginner painter with only five or six paintings under my belt. I have been told that my paintings are atmospheric and that it envokes emotion. My paintings are very amateur, I don't know the rules of painting or colour and most of the time I don't even know what I'm doing hee hee...but I love painting, it's therapeutic. I have piles of questions but I'll go easy on you and stick to my very basic questions. The first one is, what is glazing? Secondly, what is opaque? Is it better to put white into colour or colour into white? I enjoy painting in oils. Are there any useful tips you can offer at this stage?
