So what he smoked weed andrewcramer13? He's still far more intelligent than 99.9% of us. Maybe he needs it. This world is too boring for his smart mind.

I find it interesting how he doesn't suggest getting rid of all nuclear weapons.instead he says having a certain amount of nukes would be enough to deter the other side.having none would be much safer I think.

I didn't realize just how dumb Ted Turner was until you place his tiny pea of a brain beside Carl Sagan's enormous powerhouse of neurons.

Sagan as usual hits every nail directly on the head. Turner might sound reasonably intelligent if he did not use "uh" in every single sentence.

Even if it turns out in twenty years that evolutionary theory had major theoretical flaws, or that some other scientific fact is overturned, I would still consider people like Sagan to be infinitely superior to any creationist theologian or dogmatic demagogue. His balance, the power of his rhetoric and prose, his defense of free thought and democracy are values which would survive the upheaval of any one theory.

Ahhh some cosmic star baby crap from the 60s...
Let me dust off my grandma's CS&N records...
We ain't "stardust". We were created from the dust of the earth and God breathed life into us about 6000 years or so ago... when the universe was all created at once.
Haven't you read the Bible?? It's the only science book you need...

@leeroynaggins Right!!! -- and humans walked with the dinosaurs.
LOL!!!
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."

Sagan said, "We are star stuff" and "a way for the cosmos to know itself."
All the atoms on earth and in our bodies came from supernova that blew up over 5 billion years ago.
Aren't we all just walking, talking stardust -- this cosmos become AWAKE and looking back at itself? -- and aren't we intimately connected to it all?
We are this wonder called life become AWAKE
Please enjoy the dance.
And ultimately there's nothing that separates us from others in this grand mystery. Please be kind.

@leeroynaggins *applauds* Ain't that the friggin' case. Thanks for the observation...I knew it, but now I can reflect on appreciating it.
Hard to imagine, isn't it....how "debate" didn't use to mean "egotistically self-serving label applied to the activity relating to berrating ones charecter in every manner available someone who doesn't agree with you...simply -for- not agreeing with you."
Ah well. Maybe the original meaning will last in some locked away history book for others to find.
